For decades, the sperm banking industry in the US has operated without limits on how many families could use sperm from a single donor. This has led to valid concerns among donor-conceived individuals, parents, and donors themselves about the long-term social impact of donor conception.
At Premier Sperm Bank, we believe in doing things differently. We are committed to ethical family limits that protect the well-being of donor-conceived people while still supporting families who wish to grow.
Our Family Limit Policy
We have a global maximum of 25 families per donor, one of which is held for the donor's own family. To achieve this goal:
We proactively assign a fraction of one of the 24 recipient family slots, based on recipient age and treatment type, as soon as a vial ships
We reach out to each recipient on a schedule using a simple electronic link to record the outcome of each vial
All reported pregnancies and live births are tracked in our internal database to ensure accurate records
No limit on the number of children a single family may have using their chosen donor
Sales pause when a donor's combined score reaches 24.0 and resume only after every pending outcome is resolved
This allows families to have genetic siblings if they wish to expand in the future.
